The Brief Introduction on Water Valve Types
In the water system, water valves play a key role, they control the flow of open and close, regulating water and changing direction. Based on different functions, structures, and working principles, you will find that water valves can be divided into many types.
Now let's take a look at the following common water valves.
1.Gate Valve
Gate valve is a common type of water valve. Its working principle is based on the rise and fall of the ram to control the water flow. When the ram is lifted, the water channel opens; When the ram drops, the channel is closed. The advantage of gate valves is that the fluid resistance is small, the water flow is almost unhindered when it is fully opened, and it is suitable for occasions where the continuous adjustment of flow is not required in large diameter pipelines, such as the main road of municipal water supply. However, the disadvantage of gate valves is that the opening and closing process is relatively slow and the maintenance is relatively complex.
2.The globe valve
The globe valve controls the flow of water by lifting the disc. When the disc is tightly fitted to the seat, the water flow is cut off. When the disc is lifted, water passes through. The globe valve is characterized by accurate flow control and good sealing. It is often used in piping systems that require precise flow regulation, such as cooling water lines in industrial production. However, the fluid resistance of the stop valve is large, and it will also cause certain obstacles to the water flow in the fully open state.
3.Ball Valve
Ball valve with ball as opening and closing parts. There is a round hole on the ball. When the ball is rotated 90 degrees and the through hole is consistent with the pipeline axis, the valve is opened; When the ball is rotated and the through hole is perpendicular to the pipe axis, the valve is closed. Ball valve operation is simple and fast, can be quickly opened and closed, and the sealing performance is good. Ball valves are widely used in household faucets and some fire fighting systems that require rapid cut-off of water flow.
The disc of the butterfly valve is disc-shaped and rotates around the valve shaft to control the flow of water. Butterfly valve has simple structure, small size, light weight, and fast opening and closing speed. It is suitable for large diameter pipes and low pressure piping systems, such as those in sewage treatment plants. However, the sealing of butterfly valves in high pressure environments is relatively poor.
4.Check Valve
The function of the check valve is to prevent the water from flowing back. When the water flows forward, the valve disc automatically opens; When the water flow is reversed, the valve disc closes automatically. Check valves are essential in pump outlet pipes and water supply systems in high-rise buildings to effectively protect equipment and prevent damage caused by water backflow.
5.Safety Valve
Safety valve is an important valve to ensure the safety of the system. When the pressure in the system exceeds the set value, the safety valve automatically opens to discharge part of the fluid and reduce the pressure, thereby preventing the system from being dangerous due to overpressure. Safety valves need to be installed in hot water boilers, high pressure water systems, etc.
Summary
Different types of water valves vary in function, structure, and application scenarios. In the actual water system design and maintenance,it's crucial that you choose the type of water valve reasonably according to your specific needs. This way, you can ensure the stable and efficient operation of your water system.
